A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Financial Management, a Higher National Diploma in Accounting or equivalent qualification.
Possession of a professional qualification such as CIS, CA, ACCA or CIMA will be an added advantage.
Job Description
A High School in Harare is looking for an Assistant Accountant to come on board
What You Will Do
Checking if receipts have been issued in accordance with instructions and that physical cash on hand agrees with receipts
Prepare payment vouchers in respect of expenditure against the general purpose fund
Writing up the cash book/sub-collectors schedule and prepare monthly bank reconciliation statements
Prepare final accounts in respect of:
SS Fund account (receipts and payment income and expenditure, balance sheets, cashflow statement and accompanying notes
)
Gp Fund account (receipts and payment and trading accounts)
Maintain up to date school fees ledgers, record of exam fees and industrial fees received and those outstanding
Physical check of departmental, SS Fund and GP assets- deal with burglary and security issues
Check on consumable stores
Secretary to the school’ finance committee
School financial advisor
Banking of school funds
Check that requisition procedures are followed in terms of regulations
Supervision
Check on ration registers and menu registers
Supervision
Compile reply to audit quiries/ observations for Head
Prepare documents for hand-over/take over
Adminstration
Required Skills
Be accurate and excellent when working with figures
Should have worked for at least 2 years in the accounting or financial management or any related field
Good communication skills and honesty
Be computer literate and knowledgeable of accounting packages
Be knowledgeable of the Treasury Instructions and the Audit and Exchequer Act
