An established mining operation requires enhanced financial oversight, regulatory compliance, and robust cost management systems aligned with active production
To support this need, the organisation seeks an Accountant with demonstrable experience in the mining industry with a strong blend of industry-specific knowledge and technical accounting expertise, particularly within the Zimbabwean regulatory environment
What You Will Do
The role is designed to provide specialised financial oversight and advisory support, ensuring:
Full compliance with statutory and tax obligations
Accurate and relevant financial reporting aligned to mining operations
Implementation of strong financial controls and cost structures
Alignment of accounting practices with production-stage activities
Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
· Oversee preparation and review of financial statements
· Ensure accurate cost allocation aligned to mining operations (extraction, processing, logistics)
· Develop and refine mining-specific costing models
· Provide financial insights to support operational decision-making
Tax & Regulatory Compliance
· Ensure full compliance with ZIMRA obligations (VAT, PAYE, Corporate Tax, Withholding Taxes)
· Manage and review statutory filings and submissions
· Advise on tax efficiency within the mining sector
· Liaise with auditors and regulatory authorities as required
Mining Operations Support
· Align financial systems with operational activities
· Monitor and analyse production costs and profitability
· Support budgeting and forecasting using operational data
· Implement controls for inventory
Systems & Process Improvement
· Review existing accounting systems and recommend enhancements
· Strengthen internal controls and financial governance frameworks
· Support implementation of reporting tools and templates
· Ensure proper documentation and audit readiness
Advisory & Strategic Support
· Provide financial guidance to management
· Identify financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies
· Support cost optimisation and operational efficiency initiatives
· Assist in preparation of reports for stakeholders and investors (where applicable)
